Do it With a Doula
A 12 week birth preparation course for expectant parents, with Nia & Joanna
Do It With a Doula is a comprehensive, doula-led birth preparation course for expectant mothers and birth partners in the ’t Gooi region, serving Hilversum, Bussum, and surrounding towns. The course supports parents through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
Meeting weekly across 12 weeks, the course weaves together practical birth education, embodied movement (mindful yoga, mobility, breathwork, and gentle positioning and balance practices inspired by evidence-informed approaches such as Spinning Babies®), birth mindset exploration, and intentional community building.
Birth partners are actively included and supported throughout the course, with dedicated sessions focused on confidence, communication, and emotional preparation.
Led by two certified birth doulas with international backgrounds and deep integration in the Dutch healthcare system, this course offers objective, non-dogmatic guidance for hospital, home, and birth center births—supporting autonomy, informed choice, and connection.

We are Joanna and Nia, two doulas who believe that meaningful birth preparation requires time, presence, and relationship.
Between us, we bring years of experience supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum—both practically and in deeply human ways.
Our work is rooted in embodied learning, evidence-based information, and the understanding that birth is shaped not only by the body, but also by the nervous system, relationships, and environment.
We created this course after seeing the same need again and again: parents wanting more than a one-off class—craving continuity, space to ask real questions, to move, to feel, and to connect with others walking a similar path.
-
We are two certified birth doulas who:
Specialise in postpartum care and embodied preparation for birth, integrating movement, breath, yoga and body awareness
Integrate positioning, balance, and awareness practices informed by evidence-based approaches such as Spinning Babies®
Support hospital, home, and birth centre births with a balanced, objective approach
Work as independent advocates, centred on the wellbeing of mother, partner, and baby
Are deeply familiar with the Dutch system while bringing international perspectives
Honour birth as both a physiological process and, for many, a rite of passage
Learning is designed to be easy to digest, revisited, and embodied over time, with practices you can continue at home. Just as importantly, this is a space for community—where relationships form and the foundations of your village begin to take shape.
